WHS Debate Team Arguably the Best

The WHS Debate team traveled to Keller High School Friday and Saturday to compete in Lincoln-Douglas Debate at the UIL Academics Conference 6A District 3 Meet.

James Blankenship debated well, but came up short in prelims. Brannon Heltzel gave the best performances of his career, but lost a heartbreaker in quarterfinals. Lauren White advanced to semi-finals where she dethroned the perfect- scoring, top-ranked debater at the meet. After her panel of judges debated among themselves, Lauren took 2nd place in the final round by a 2-1 decision.

Because the top three District ranking debaters advance to Regionals, Lauren White will represent Weatherford High School at UT Arlington on April 13-14 at the Regional Meet.

Congratulate these students when you see them, and wish Lauren luck. Go Roo Debate!
