This term five CEDoW Scholarship recipients (SR's) started out on their teaching journey as School Support Officers in our schools. All five are reportedly embracing this opportunity and thoroughly enjoying this experience. One of the SR's has been placed at St Peter and Paul, Kiama, two at St Paul's, Albion Park, and the remaining two at St Justin's, Oran Park. We are extremely grateful for the support and mentoring these schools are offering these young people as they begin this learning journey.

Congratulations to Peterson C, Year 12, who competed in the Roberta Nutt School Championships for Seniors at the NSW Fencing Centre in Alexandria. Fencers compete for their school and not their club at this event. This competition was well attended with 41 fencers from various schools.
Peterson was fencing extremely well and at the end of the first round (poules), Peterson had won all his 5 bouts convincingly. Bouts are fenced to the best of 5 points and Peterson had only given away 3 points out of a possible 25. He was leading the rankings following the poules, progressing through to the Direct Eliminations. Peterson easily won both his first DE and his second, placing him in the top 8. As we know well in sport, not everything goes to plan and it was most unlucky for Peterson that he was defeated in the next round of eliminations squashing his chance of a medal.
Whilst Peterson's final ranking was a respectable 5th, it no way reflects Peterson's skill and determination in what should have been a place on the podium on any other day.

The NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge has commenced for 2021 and is open to students from Year 7 to 9 (with special dispensation for students in Year 10 who have completed the challenge every previous year and were unable to do so in 2020).
The aim is to encourage a love of reading and the challenge is to read 20 books - 15 from the PRC List and 5 personal choice books between March 2021 and 20th August 2021.
It’s easier than you think - you can count books you have read since September 2020 when last year’s challenge ended.
Our Library has a great display of PRC Books and you can add some books you’ve already read at home.
Take the Challenge! See the Library Staff to sign up and find out more details.
Happy Reading
