Spring & Class Pictures
Tuesday, March 6, Strawbridge Photograpy will be at the school to take each student's spring picture and class pictures.
Everyone will have an individual picture taken. You do not need to pre-order these. They will come home and you can decide if you want to purchase all, some, or none of them. Please return the money and unwanted pictures to school.
We will also be taking our class photos. These MUST be pre-ordered. They will only print enough for those who order.
Ordering envelopes came home with your child.
All for Books program
Book Fair is only weeks away and that means it's also time for the ALL FOR BOOKS program! Our goal this spring is to make sure that all students receive a new book to take home AND that our Media Center receives some much needed new inventory for its shelves. 100% of the money collected will go towards getting books into the hands of students that might not have the means to purchase them. AND, by purchasing books for our Media Center, you are ensuring that we have a fully stocked Media Center for all of our students for years to come. Using your generous donations, we will pull books directly from book fair and put them where they can make an impact!
Please print out the letter (below) and send your donation in by Friday, March 9. We will also have a jar in the office for loose change. All donors will be entered in a drawing to win a $50 gift certificate to book fair. If you have any questions, please contact Lindsay Tremelling ltremelling83@gmail.com . Don't forget to click on the logo for a video from Scholastic detailing this awesome program!

Reminder from the Penny Road Attendance Committee
It is widely understood that one of the most important factors leading to student success is attending school on a regular basis. North Carolina Compulsory Attendance Law requires all enrolled students to attend school regularly. There are certainly situations over which we have no control. The absence will be excused if a note from a parent or doctor is brought to school within 2 days of when the student returns.
Excused absences would include absence due to:
• Illness or Injury
• Doctor’s appointment
• Death in the Family
• Religious Observance
• Court
We respectfully request that families refrain from taking their children out of school for
additional vacation time. Such absences are unexcused and place an unnecessary burden on both students and teachers. Your support in ensuring your child's regular, on-time attendance at school is greatly appreciated.
(See the Absence note (below) that might be helpful to you in sending in your child's note, when needed.)
Sincerely,
Penny Road Attendance Committee:
Bonnie Mulfinger, Social Worker
Sarah Fenik, Counselor
Becky Fletcher, Data Manager
