NFDL Teaching and Learning
December 2016
District Goals
#1 All Students Improve Literacy!
#1 Engaging and Effective Instruction for All Students!
#1 Create and Maintain a Happy (Positive Emotional) Environment!
NFDL Curriculum
- What we want students to learn?
- How do we know they are learning it?
- What do we do when they don't?
- What do we do when they already know it?
This will lead to the development of priority/power standards, common learning targets, and common ways to assess learning. We'll take a systematic approach for this journey. I'll outline this process more at our January Inservice.
NFDL Assessment
Our district uses a Balanced Assessment System approach (summative, benchmark, formative) to assessing student learning. We value multiple measures of data, as opposed to using one source of information.
- ACCESS Testing - Window opens December 6th, Window closes February 10th - DPI Info
Upcoming Local Assessments
- STAR Reading and Math - Mid-Year Benchmarks; K-10th Grade
- DRA2 - Mid-Year Benchmarks; K-5th Grade

- District Definition - Data = Any Information About a Student.
Effectiveness Project - My Learning Plan
We believe in using instructionally sound practices for our students, not for the Effectiveness Project. If we do this, our work in My Learning Plan will take care of itself.
