Position Description
Summary of Accountabilities: New Patient Coordinator performs essential clerical/administrative duties in the Cancer Center. Assists the administrative and clinical staff in maintaining a patient/customer focus, supports the delivery of highest quality care, shares a passion for patient and customer centered care, and assists in meeting or exceeding patient satisfaction and financial and operational targets. Triages patient inquiries and telephone calls. Schedules outpatient appointments in EPIC and performs all related tasks. Uses EPIC functions to facilitate patient appointment. Performs all tasks associated with new patient intake. Works any shift in any Cancer Center area (7:00 AM – 6:00 PM) as needed and as assigned. Serves as coverage partner to other intake staff members and similar positions. Assists clinical and administrative staff as needed.
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or GED required. College degree preferred. Oncology experience preferred.
Additional Information
The New Patient Coordinator is responsible and oversees the intake and coordination of all records for new patients in an integrated, multi-disciplinary clinic. The New Patient Coordinator completes the intake process and ensures that every new patient is well prepared for his or her first visit. This involves determining the most appropriate physician for the patient’s diagnosis. The New Patient Coordinator secures medical records, test results, and any necessary referrals prior to the patient's appointment. The New Patient Coordinator also secures the patient’s medical insurance and correctly inputs this information into EPIC.
• This position is essential to the clinic and plays a crucial role in the intaking of new patients.
