Courtwarming Game

Tonight the Panthers take on Lee's Summit (LS) in the annual Courtwarming game. LS has an undefeated record of 20-0. They are currently ranked number 20 in a nationwide poll. In the last game between the 2 teams, LS hit 2 free throws with just 5 seconds remaining in the game to put the Tigers up 3 points. The Panthers were not able to come away with the victory. They hope to have different results tonight. It should be a very exciting environment.

The Panthers pictured below are the basketball players that are part of the Courtwarming candidates. A couple weeks ago, the student body voted for Courtwarming candidates from all the students in the school. This week final votes were submitted and one of these young men will become Homecoming King. Congratulations to the candidates and their families.

The Freshmen A team had 2 tournaments this year. In both tournaments, they were champions! The latest tournament taking place last week at Truman High School ended in dramatic fashion. The Freshmen A team took on Blue Springs South. It took double overtime, but the Panthers came out victorious.

The Freshmen B team played in the Lee's Summit West B team tournament. Winning the first tournament of the year, the B team hoped to come away with another championship. Unfortunately, they fought hard but came up few baskets short. Second place out of 8 teams is still an awesome accomplishment.

Both teams finished with records of 13 wins and 7 losses. It was a great year for the future varsity Panthers.

Double Overtime Ends the Year

Coach Gatzemeyer and the sophomores played their last game of the year verses Lee's Summit West on February, 1st. In the last meeting between the two teams, the Panthers won on a last second shot. This matchup was also an exciting game from start to finish. The Sophomores trailed most of the game. In the end, the game was not decided by a last second shot but instead 2 overtimes. The Panthers came away with the victory. The Sophomores ended the year in exciting fashion.

Teacher Appreciation Night

Tuesday night, the Panthers took on Blue Springs. Before the game started, every player invited and walked onto the court with a teacher that has meant a lot and helped them in their educational journey. As part of the night, the players wrote notes to all the teachers and expressed their gratitude. It was and encouraging night for both the teachers and the players.
