Micro Elementary Parent Newsletter
April 2019
Message from Principal Parrish
Happy March!
Check out the two above graphics about the power of reading. Students who read for at least 30 minutes each day learn thousands of more vocabulary words over time. Students who read for 30 minutes per day also grow an average of 9 percentile points on standardized reading tests. I have also read research that is clear about a link between students who read for enjoyment and overall academic success. A great way to support your child's overall development is to encourage them to read, read, read!
Please remember that if you have questions or concerns, please contact your child's teacher. We are here to serve!
Thank you!
Mr. Parrish

Literacy Challenge
Our school has two Wildly Important Goals that we will focus on as a school.
1. Help students develop a love of reading.
2. Provide students with meaningful and personalized learning experiences.
Research shows that students who enjoy reading are more successful in school. We also want to provide our students with "real world" learning experiences that make content come alive.
