Mobile Apps in the Classroom

Helpful Apps for K-12

My Top Two!

Edmodo

Cost: Free!

Why I Love It:

This app is number one for me because it is so helpful and versatile! It can be used in a K-12 setting with the help of parents for the younger grades. Edmodo can be used for class discussion, assignment submission, assignment notification and grade checking. In grades 6-12 this app can be awesome for students to hand in homework and participate in discussion. However, in grades K-5 this app can be beneficial for parents to keep up to date with the child's grades and even important events like field trips. I like that this app combines all of the aspects of a classroom, but puts it into one great app! Great for both students and parents to keep up to date!

Quizlet

Cost: Free!

Why I Love It:

This app comes in a close second for me because I love that it is free and that it is customizable, so it can be used for all subjects and age ranges. This app allows you as the teacher to create quizzes for your students, but also lets students create flashcards for themselves. I also love that quizzes can be shared and done by anyone on the site so students and teachers can browse and find quizzes that are applicable for their subject area. The customization of these quizzes also means that they can be made simple enough for the younger grades or complex enough to help senior high students too!
