Sibling Sack

Did you know that if you have a new baby in the family you can send your child to the Media Center to claim a Sibling Sack. The Sibling Sack includes a book for the Gwin Oaks student, one for the baby, a bookmark, and a brochure on the importance of reading to your child.

Book Fair

Book Fair is Almost Here

Reading is the most important skill you can teach a child. Of all the skills children learn, it is the one you can influence the most. Come to the Book Fair and experience a celebration of reading that provides families the opportunity to get involved in a universal mission: encouraging kids to read every day so they can lead better lives. Reading is vital to every child’s success, and raising kids as readers means getting involved while they’re young. Now is the time. Since there will never be a substitute for a parent’s direct involvement in his/her child’s education.

Mark your calendar during Early Release on Sept. 24 and Sept. 25 where you can help your child find the books they’ll love to read. You can also contribute books to the teacher’s classroom library so students will have easy access to reading every day. Please make plans to visit our Book Fair. Hope to see you there!

Book Fair Dates: Sept. 21-23 (Browsing) Sept. 24-Sept. 30 (Buying)

Shopping Hours: 8:00-3:30

Extended Early Release Times: 7:45-5:00 (Wed., Sept. 23rd) 7:45-4:00 (Thursday, Sept. 24th)

Congratulations to Will Hermel! Will is our August Box Tops/Soup Labels winner!

Important: Please send your labels or Box Tops in a plastic zip lock bag with your child’s name, teacher’s name and grade neatly printed on a piece of paper inside the bag. This is really important so that I can make sure your child gets credit for their submitted labels and Box Tops. Please trim along the dotted lines on the Box Top or Soup Labels as it helps us get them processed much faster. Unfortunately, we cannot accept Box Tops that have expired or are missing the expiration date.

If you have any questions, please contact Sharon Kosmala, 404-661-8907 or email at
