My New Venture
at Beautycounter
Hello Friends and Family!
I hope this message finds you well. Over the past couple of years, I’ve been trying to make better choices for myself and my family – from what we eat, what products we use, and the companies we support by buying their products. At first this meant deliberate choices on food and what we put in our bodies. Then it became choices about the products we use around us and expose ourselves to (cleaning products, etc). And then I really started looking at the products we actually put ON our bodies. I had made a shift to buying hair products and body washes from Whole Foods, which exclude some of the ingredients known to cause human health issues. Of course, these products come at a premium and you want and expect to be happy with the effectiveness of these products. Unfortunately, I didn’t find that to be true. This led me to search for better and safer high quality personal care products that actually perform well.
It might sound cheesy, but I finally found what I was looking for in Beautycounter! Beautycounter is a transformational, certified B-corp organization, focusing on safe, high quality skin care and cosmetics. A safe beauty brand that puts your health first. I love their mission and products so much that I’ve recently joined the Beautycounter team.
It would mean so much to me if you could take a moment to read about my exciting new adventure and, if you are local, please join me for my open house on Thursday, October 8th, 9:30 am-12 pm and 7 pm-9 pm.
Why I decided to join Beautycounter
Beautycounter is a personal care brand built on the belief that products can be beautiful, effective, AND safe. The products are simply amazing and as luxurious as anything on the market. We offer Skin and Body Care, Sunscreen, an amazing Kids Collection and an equally fabulous line of Cosmetics that are all truly safe and use clean ingredients.
Many of us try to lead a healthy lifestyle. Eating organic, being active, avoiding (now) obvious toxins. But, like 80% of Americans, I was not aware of the many harmful chemicals that are in everyday personal care products. Our skin, our largest organ, absorbs what we put on it, and it takes around 26 seconds to enter the bloodstream. What goes on us is just as important as what goes in us.
Want to know the most shocking thing? The last time a federal law was passed to regulate the ingredients used in personal care products was in 1938 (Roosevelt was President)! The European Union has spent the past two decades banning or restricting the use of over 1,300 ingredients. The United States has banned only 11 to-date, yes just 11!! That is unacceptable. At Beautycounter, we have banned over 1,500 harmful ingredients from our products, setting a new health and safety standard!
What can you do to be better informed?
Start by scanning the bar codes of the products you are using via the Skin Deep Phone App (supported by the EWG - Environmental Working Group). This app assigns risk ratings based on chemicals each product contains. e.g., (0-2) Low Hazard, (3-6) Moderate Hazard, (7-10) High Hazard. You can also visit: www.ewg.org/consumer-guides to search products in their extensive database. You'll be amazed and once you know you'll never go back!
The Never List. I am proud to be a part of a company whose mission is "to get safe products into the hands of everyone." Beautycounter's NEVER LIST bans over 1,500 toxic chemicals that have been linked to human health issues. Their ingredient screening process is the strictest in the industry! Share the mission....love the products!

Honestly, we all deserve better; and Beautycounter is doing something about it. That is why I joined. To be part of a movement that has significant social impact and a company that wants to affect change all the way to Washington. [see short video below for details]
Beautycounter is a certified B Corporation (that’s “B” for benefit!). B Corps are certified by the nonprofit B Lab to meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.
Now, that’s a company I can get behind! I feel good supporting and being a part of the team that makes up Beautycounter.
