-Formed when red hot lava oozes out from cracks, or fissures in the Earth's crust.
March to April 1984
Amount of damage it has caused:
The eruption of Mauna Loa sent large amounts of lava down slope through small villages in Ho'okena, destroying homes, a gas station, lodge, church and a cemetery.
Any towns/cities located near it:
-Kailua, Lanai City, Lahaina, Kaneohe, Honolulu, Ahuimanu, and many more.
