Principal's Corner

I would like to inform you that our campus is making huge strides with both in-person and remote learning. As things continue to change I know that all stakeholders are willing and ready to do what it takes to support the students of CCMS.

I would like to also invite all Remote/Virtual learners' parents to our Zoom meeting tomorrow (4:30-6:15), Monday, October 5. We will answer questions in the following categories: Attendance, Canvas, Grades, and classroom/instructional questions.

Remember if your student is a remote learner to have them log on everyday and submit their attendance for every class in order to receive credit.

Hello 7th-Grade Families:

We have almost completed an entire grading period; time flies when you are having fun and working hard! My goal is to always keep kids first in ensuring a learning environment that is safe, positive, and inclusive. Collaboratively, we will work together to ensure the success of your students; if you have any questions or concerns about your student, please reach out to me.

Our 7th-grade teachers have worked tirelessly these six weeks to connect with our remote learners while also teaching their in-person students in the classrooms. I know virtual learning is as new to the students and parents as it is for our teachers, and it takes time to learn how to maneuver through Clever and Canvas. If your student needs help, reach out to their teacher; they are here to help our students in whatever way they can.

I look forward to continuing to work with each of our families to ensure our students' success!

Casi hemos completado un período completo de calificaciones; ¡El tiempo vuela cuando te diviertes y trabajas duro! Mi objetivo es siempre mantener a los niños primero para garantizar un entorno de aprendizaje seguro, positivo e inclusivo. En colaboración, trabajaremos juntos para asegurar el éxito de sus estudiantes; Si tiene alguna pregunta o inquietud sobre su estudiante, comuníquese conmigo.

Nuestros maestros de séptimo grado han trabajado incansablemente estas seis semanas para conectarse con nuestros estudiantes remotos mientras también enseñan a sus estudiantes en persona en las aulas. Sé que el aprendizaje virtual es tan nuevo para los estudiantes y los padres como lo es para nuestros maestros, y se necesita tiempo para aprender a maniobrar a través de Clever y Canvas. Hello 8th-grade Families:

As we cross the finish line of the first grading period, we will all be stronger, smarter, better and more resilient because of this journey. Students, I encourage you to make every effort to complete assignments prepared for you in Canvas. Teachers have created “Virtual Support Hours” during and after school to answer questions and help to students with assignments. Please use this extended support. Together we will be successful. Stay safe, stay strong, and stay positive!

This week, we would like to spotlight Mr. Allen, 6th grade Social Studies. Let’s get to know Mr. Allen a little better through his own words: “After graduating from Greenville High School (Texas), I served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Enterprise. I graduated from Texas A&M-Commerce with a B.S. in History and an M.S. in Educational Administration and have been in public education for 15 years. I am married to Errin, who is a speech pathologist in Belton ISD and we have 4 children, Zoe, Payton, Skyler, and Jack. We enjoy traveling, camping, riding the Harley, and are active members in our church.”

The AVID team at Cesar Chavez wants to share monthly tips and strategies that are good for ALL students. Check back each month to see what is new!

What is Inquiry? In the classroom, Inquiry refers to the asking and answering of high-level

questions. Rigor can be improved by asking Costa’s level questions and engaging in having

deep conversations about your inquiry. These conversations could be about the deeper

meaning of a movie, the figurative language in a song, the implications of a current event, the

intersection of science and society, the importance of education, the value of honesty, and

more. Inquiry activities at school might look like Socratic Seminars, Philosophical Chairs, Quick-

writes, etc. The CCMS AVID Site Team is encouraging you to create meaningful moments were

students can take part in Inquiry activities throughout this year.

Greetings and salutations to you from the EBT! We are hoping that we are reaching you in the best of health and hope.

This month we chose the Student of the Month for every grade level based on PBIS points. The students below are our October Student of the Month recipients :

Aaydyn Aleman - Grade 6 - 111 points

Jair Galvan - Grade 7 - 225 points

Jayla Garcia - Grade 8 - 152 points

If you are having trouble with the PBIS app, we are encouraging you to download the newest app from the Google Playstore. This would just be for all Android users. Iphone user formats were not disturbed during the update with Adobe and PBIS. The link below will answer any questions you may have.

We are also encouraging you to please log on and check your student’s progress through these first six weeks.

We are holding a fundraiser at CCMS! If you are wanting to purchase a hoodie for your student or yourself please click the link below. Multiple orders can be put on one order form. Just briefly tell how many and what size in the description box on the form. There is not a set price at the moment. The price depends on the quantity, and we are still currently taking orders. As soon as we get the final number we will notify you.
