Read Around the Planet
To celebrate Read Across America, 4 classes participated in Read Across the Planet Video Conferences. Each class was partnered with another school from around the world to celebrate reading. We talked with students in North Dakota, Michigan, New York, and Alberta, Canada! Mrs. Cobia's Kindergarten class wrote poems about their class, Mrs. Reynolds' 1st grade class conducted a Reader's Theater from the book You Read to Me, I'll Read to You, Mrs. Arrington's 3rd grade class performed a skit, and Miss Wofford's 4th grade class conducted a Reader's Theater from the book My Rotten Red Headed Older Brother. After the other schools shared their part, we were able to ask questions to each other about their class, school, city, and state. Some favorite questions were about the weather and food! Students were surprised to hear about other boys and girls not eating grits or drinking sweet tea!
