Whole School Read Aloud!
Dear Families, This week we started a whole school read aloud. In your child's online library classroom are the chapters for the week, along with a variety of optional activities. Park View is also doing this book and we hope to have some cross-building activities going on. This is an optional activity as we know that the change of schedule will be challenging for some families. We hope that you will join us for this exciting reading adventure, but we understand if you cannot. So join us if you can- you won’t regret it! Happy Reading! Mrs. Yerly
2021-2022 school year
It’s hard to believe, but we are about to begin the process of building classes for the 2021-2022 school year. Your child’s classroom teacher, the grade-level teaching team, all of our specialists, and the administrative team each play a role in the process, as we work to place each of the children into the very best setting that we can. We consider learning styles, student personalities, girl/boy ratio, class size, student academic strengths and needs, and we strive for a heterogeneous class make-up (full range of abilities).
Parents also know valuable information that can help us place your children. If you are interested, you may submit a letter to me no later than Friday, April 16, 2020. Please keep in mind that I will accept the following information from parents:
- If there is information about your child’s learning style that you feel is pertinent, please share this information.
- If an older child in your immediate family had a teacher and you’d like to request that a younger sibling not have the same teacher, please share this information.
- If you know that your child must be separated from a specific child to optimize your child’s learning experience, please share this information.
Please note: Parental requests for specific teachers or classrooms are NOT accepted.
Factoring in all of the above variables as we create class lists is a delicate balancing act. I will take each request into consideration as we do our best to meet the needs of all our students.

Art Smart
The April Art Smart Challenge is “The K’ang-hsi Emperor’s Second Tour of the South” created in 1689 by the Emperor of China’s landscape artist, Wang Hui. The breathtaking landscape was painted on a scroll that ended up being 45 feet long! This month the students will create a picture of where they want to go on their next vacation.
Encourage your child to try out Art Smart this month! You can print the attached April Art Smart Challenge form at home or pick up a copy in the Arbor View pick-up area. The students will display their Art Smart coloring pages through Flipgrid. All the directions are included in the April Art Smart Challenge form.
