So you want to integrate mobile learning into your classroom?

We know it can be overwhelming to know where to begin, or to keep up-to-date on the best tools available. Therefore, we've chosen five of our favourite mobile apps appropriate for high school students to unpack a little. We know a lot of information is out there, and sometimes it helps to get a recommendation from a trusted source!

Learning with Duolingo is fun and addictive. The app is set up so that you can learn in smaller, bite-sized chunks, or play games against a clock to earn points. With built-in audio capabilities, you can record your own voice or listen to recordings, and in-lesson grading helps you further keep track of your progress.

Imagine teaching a lecture on conjugating verbs in Spanish, and then finding an applicable game within Duolingo to reinforce learning and bring that lesson to life?

"For everything you’ll do, Evernote is the workspace to get it done."

As Evernote's site outlines, the app - which is also compatible with desktop devices - can be used to compose notes, collect materials, converse with others, and create compelling presentations.

This app's flexibility and multi-use tools means it can act as a great go-to for many classroom activities. Instructors can ask their students to compile and save a variety of sources and information for a future presentation in their notes section, for instance, which can later easily be easily transferred into Evernote's presentation building software.

Studyblue is a fantastic study tool, which incorporates many helpful features. Their built-in, content-rich library allows you to find recommended and relevant content based on subject matter you're interested in. You can then create your own customized flashcards, with text, audio, and video content, or make use of the quizzes and review sheets Studyblue will create out of your content. You can also track your progress with a numerical score, and synch your content with another classmate or study partner. Finally, Studyblue can also be linked with Evernote, which makes content sharing easier.

Calendars 5 is a well-designed and aesthetically pleasing calendar app that makes staying on top of assignments and daily tasks easy. The app synchs with local iOS calendars, Reminders, and Google Calendar.

The app uses natural language processing to create events. Simply write something such as, "meet George for coffee at Transcend tomorrow at 7pm," and Calendars 5 will create the event, invite Ben from your address book, and pin your meeting location on a map. You're able to create multiple reminders for yourself via text messages or alerts, as many times as you like, so you won't miss anything important. The app colour codes tasks and meetings in a simple, yet effective way, and you're able to see both your tasks and events in one place, making it easy to see all that you need to accomplish for the day, week, or month ahead.

This app is a particularly useful organizational tools for students and instructors alike, as assignments can be set up as text reminders, for instance, ensuring that important deadlines are not forgotten.

EasyBib does exactly what its title boasts of: makes creating a bibliography easy. Simply choose the citation style and source you're working with, enter other key information when prompted, and the app will do the rest to correctly citate your resources.
