Teacher Appreciation Week

We have the very best teachers and staff members at Lakeview!

Next week (May 4-8) is National Teacher Appreciation Week. Our teachers are still teaching and connecting with your students. Teachers are learning new skills to support remote learning and working together to reinvent education in this unique time. And - I am proud to tell you this - they are loving the challenge. Of course, we would rather see students face to face, but that is not possible right now.

Please take a moment to send our teachers a note of appreciation. An email, a picture from your child, a quick video of thanks - anything simple that lets our staff hear from you this week. Maybe you could send a note each day to a different staff member - it takes many people to make a school work! To make it easier for you, click here for a list of our staff members with contact info.

We love a parade!

It was great to see so many families and community members outside for our Lakeview procession on April 20th. It brought tears to the eyes of many staff members to see all of the students, families, and signs. It was also amazing to see the number of older people waving as well as families with young children that will go to Lakeview in the future. We appreciate the community support - thank you all! Below are a few pictures.

Summer School & 4K Registration

From our School Social Worker, Mrs. Nillissen:

Hello Lakeview Families!

If your child or family are having difficulties, please know that I am here to support you. The easiest way to reach me is via email at or you may call me at 414-766-5267 to leave a message and I will call you back. Please take care of yourselves!

You need more books at home and the public library is here to support you!

Milwaukee county public libraries now have curbside pickup. I've used it with my family already, and it works beautifully. If your child is not reading 30-60 minutes a day right now, they are not reading enough. But perhaps you have run out of books - see the information below from the SM library and take advantage of it on a regular basis.

Student item pickup and yearbooks

Since school is closed for the remainder of this year (but online learning continues with teachers), we are coordinating the pickup of student personal items. We know there are items in lockers and desks yet that we want to return to families. Soon, we will let you know how that will be happening, and we are developing a plan in which you would not even need to come into the building. Items such as school library books, classroom library books, Chromebooks, and yearbooks are also under consideration. We promise to let you know each of these items will be handled. Our yearbooks will still be distributed, but students normally would not have received yearbooks until June anyway.
