The Online Learning Schedule for this Week
This Week at Placerita 9.13.20
Good Evening Placerita Families…
Welcome to week six of the school year. We have several items to review this evening.
We wish we were able to return to school this week; however, State restrictions on the return to in-person instruction prohibit the transition to Blended Learning on September 14 as previously planned. For more information please see https://www.hartdistrict.org/apps/pages/coronavirus-info . We are all very hopeful that the progress that we are seeing in numbers will allow us to return soon.
Congratulations to Kid Flix for a new National Award from the Student Television Network. See the article below for more information.
Also, see the note below from the District about our Learning Continuity and Attendance Plan.
Thank you to our parents that stepped up to offer their willingness to serve on our site council. We have an opportunity to make some changes in how we operate our council and how many parents we will need for our full council numbers. Before we will announce our new members we have a couple other meetings early in the week that will determine the number of parents we need. We will contact parents whose name were on the list and let them know the results this week.
Please remind your students that it is important not to share their links for their Google Meet or Zoom classes. Thankfully, we have only had a few times that someone has come into a class inappropriately. However, both Meet and Zoom are now set to only allow students with a Hart District email address into the class. That means that the only way that someone can come into class is if someone is giving out their links to their friends. Please remind your students that they should never share. Thank you for helping with that.
Our ASB is has created a new classroom to share information about special activities. lease ask your students if they have joined. They will get credit for their teams in our team competition that goes on throughout the year. It is called the Miner Pride Room and the join code is i7mm4qd.
Believe it or not the first progress reports will be coming out this week. The end of the grading period for the first report was last Friday. These grades do not go on a transcript because they are just the Progress Report. The first grades that do go a transcript will be at the end of the first quarter coming out the week of October 19th.
Please take a look below at information about how your students can check out a book from the library as well as the latest information from Miner Morning TV.
That’s it for tonight. Have a good week.
Mr. Turner

Great Job Kid Flix!
Kid Flix wins National Award!
CONGRATULATIONS to our very own Kid Flix for winning a Bronze Medal in the Student Television Network (STN) Craft Achievement Medal Awards. We always knew they were great but this shows it nationally!
STN looks to assist affiliate programs in their pursuit of professional growth and recognize those that have excelled in the craft of film, video and media production.
Affiliate programs that produce a variety of media content may submit a web URL to be reviewed as part of the STN Craft Achievement Evaluation Program.
Programs will be evaluated and some will be recognized based on a set forth criteria. This is not a head-to-head contest. It is an evaluation and critique program.
Submissions that meet the criteria will be rated Gold, Silver or Bronze. If an entry does not meet the criteria, then no medal will be granted. All program affiliates who submit a program URL will receive detailed written feedback from an STN Veteran Teacher/Professional.
The judges are looking for programs that show excellence in the following criteria: Videography, Writing, Editing, Lighting, Sound, Graphics, Content Creativity, Content Diversity, Technical Complexity, Overall Impression

Our meetings will be held on Monday afternoons on Zoom from 3 pm to 4 pm. Students interested in joining Kid Flix should join our Google Classroom group using the code i6uaemo. Zoom information will be posted there.

Questions about Technology
If you are having any type of tech issues please call the main school line at 661-259-1551 and we will give you a time to come in to work on fixing it.
In order to clarify a few questions that we have regarding attendance and students being present on either Zoom or Google Meet let's discuss a couple things. First, for students to check in to be counted present they should be present on screen for the teacher to see them. Second, they should mute their mic unless class is in a discussion mode, direct questions are being asked or if they are greeting or saying hi to their friends during designated times during class. It is important to remember that participation is a very important part of any learning environment. In some classes like PE, dance, art or music, participation through visual connection is a part of the grade. We would not want anyone’s grade to be lowered for participation or be counted absent because they were not visually participating. Some teachers are having students respond in the chat to show presence in class. Please encourage your students to participate fully so they can get all the credit they need for participation. We understand there are some exceptions and teachers are working with students in those areas already.
