Pirate Nation,

Happy Friday! I can’t believe it’s already December, but nonetheless here we are. Hart High School is becoming a very busy place with several activities and opportunities for family fun, as well as holiday cheer.

Our drama club has been busy preparing for their upcoming play “Leaving Iowa,” by Spike Manton and Tim Clue for the past two months. This play is a comedy about a family taking a road trip and I am confident this family’s trip will leave us in stitches. I caught up with senior James Vega who is playing a lead role and he guaranteed we were in for a good time. James said the students are finalizing the remaining details and they are excited for the opening night on Friday, December 9th at 7:00 pm. There will be two additional shows, one on Saturday at 7:00 pm and the other on Sunday 2:00 pm. If you’re ready for a good laugh please come out and support James and our Drama Club next weekend!

If you’re looking to get into the holiday spirit then you won’t want to miss our Senior Band Christmas Concert on Monday, December 12th at 6:00 pm in our high school gymnasium. Freshman Shelbie Choponis who plays the trumpet explained the concert will include three pieces of music: Silent Night, Bring a Torch, and Nightmare Before Christmas. All three pieces are sure to get you into the Christmas spirit. Shelbie also stated how much she enjoyed marching and playing in the Christmas Parade last week through downtown Hart. When I asked Shelbie what she enjoyed most about the parade she stated it was a lot of fun and you could feel the positive energy from the crowd. I’m looking forward to the positive energy on Monday, December 12th and I hope to see you there!

Our Lady Pirate basketball team came out of the gates with a huge win over the Ludington Orioles on Tuesday night. We trailed by nine late into the game, but with determination we were able to force the game into overtime. During overtime, Junior guard Abby Hicks hit a crucial free throw which secured the victory for our varsity team. Addi Hovey had the game-high with 17 points and our girls are off to a great start! If you are in need of entertainment our girls take on the school to the south this evening!

I look forward to sharing more with you next week! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

With Pirate Pride,

Mr. Moran
