Spelling Bee!

Congratulations to both Jack D. and Chloe for participating in the 4th Grade Spelling Bee yesterday. Chloe earned CHAMPION status and Jack will take part in a spell off on Monday to determine his final ranking. So proud of both of them!

Mrs. Close's Class ~ We are back in the swing of things! We just finished the first section of Module 4. Kids took the Topic A quiz yesterday. They had to draw a ray, line segment, line, identify and classify angles and work with perpendicular and parallel lines. That quiz will come home in next week's Friday Folder. The next section of the unit is angle measurement. Using the protractor can be quite tricky!

PAWS ~ My plan was to send home the PAWS#5 in Friday Folders for kids who wanted to get a head start. The best I can do is attach it as a pdf. If interested, the assignment can be found below and printed. I'll also have paper copies available on Monday.

SS ~ Our next unit is Colonial America. We've jump started the unit with the Manhattan purchase. Be sure to ask your child about the "stubborn" myth that goes along with that transaction.

Small Groups ~ We've picked up where we left off before the holidays.

Read Aloud ~ I just started reading Because of Winn Dixie to the kids. It's one of my all time favorites.

We never officially finished the second part of the Structures of Life unit because we received crayfish that weren't healthy. Hopefully, during the upcoming week, we will get another tank of crayfish to observe and study. We'll also begin the magnetism and electricity unit within the next week or so.

Kids will need to bring instruments on Tuesday only. They've lucked out, lessons and ensembles meet on the same day again because of our snow day!
