News From the Office

There has been some miscommunication, and our Open House scheduled for October 11 has been canceled. However, our Road Runner Run will be the following day on October 12 from 2:00 - 3:30 pm.

You should have received notification about conference schedules from your child's teacher. If not, reach out to her.

We've just completed our NWEA testing for the fall baseline data. Starting Monday, we will begin our WIN (What I Need) time. Be sure to check your teacher's newsletters/blogs for the timing.

The Clinic Needs Donations!

The Spencer Clinic is in need of clothing donations! If you have gently used shorts, skirts or leggings in sizes 5/6, we would greatly appreciate it.

Count Day

Wednesday, October 3rd is our first “count day” related to our per pupil funding. This is a very important day for our school system as 90% of our funding comes from the documented attendance on this day. Please be sure to make every effort to have your children attend on this very important day. However, if they do not feel well or have to be absent we still have 30 days to count them if we have documentation for their absence on this day.

Question of the Week

What I Learned From Last Week's Question

It appears most of us would like to have dinner with famous people from presidents, musicians, religious leaders, movie stars, and family members that have passed. I was once asked this same question a while ago, and my answer followed suit with our Spencer families.
We learn new things by asking questions. Please take a moment to answer the one question survey. All of the information gathered is anonymous. Thank you for your time.

All-Star Theme

Annually, the PTO selects a theme that will be highlighted at our various events throughout the school year and will serve as our inspiration for everything from our t-shirts, bulletin boards, decor, twitter hash tag, assemblies, etc. This year we selected an All-Star theme. Our message is that every child is an All-Star in his or her own way. We can be sports, reading, writing, dancing, academic, or artistic all starts. Children can be all star friends, siblings, sons and daughters, neighbors, community helpers, students and humans. Let's celebrate our amazing talents. Also encompassed in this theme is good sportsmanship, pride in our work, being a good team player and building most valuable friendships. It is going to be an All-Star year at Spencer!

Popcorn Friday

Popcorn Friday is here! We are looking for parent volunteers to help with popcorn Friday's. This event cannot be a success without the support of our amazing volunteers. If you can help for a few hours on a Friday this year please select the link below. This is always a great event for the kids as well as parent volunteers. Our first Popcorn Friday is October 5th and will be sold during all lunches for .50 cents. All popcorn sales support the 4th Grade Farewell. Please note that students can NOT use their lunch account money to purchase popcorn.

Roadrunner Run

On Friday, October 12, all students at Spencer will participate in the 7th annual Roadrunner Run. This is the first of only two fundraisers for the year, the other being the auction in May. Information packets including donation pledge sheets will be arriving home by this Friday. Important note: If donating online, you must include your child's name and teacher for the donation to count towards his or her class total. The class with the highest total will win a terrific prize and the coveted Roadrunner Run trophy to proudly display in the classroom for the year!

Many volunteers are needed to make this a successful fundraising event. Sign up to help here:

Spencer Elementary PTO: Roadrunner Run 2018

Welcome to the SEVENTH Annual ROADRUNNER RUN!!! This is the first event of the school year and WE NEED YOU!!! Please sign up for a slot below and help make this an awesome event for our kids. This is a FAMILY event, so it is okay to bring younger siblings, Grandmas and Grandpas - the more the merrier!!! If all slots are full - please come and join your student and you can run with them or just cheer them on! If you sign up to be a leader for your student's class, your role will be to travel with the class and teacher and aide the teacher in moving the students along from station to station. You will make sure everyone is accounted for and no one gets lost along the way. PLEASE NOTE: This year's Roadrunner Run is an ALL STAR theme, please feel free to dress up!!!

Thank you for submitting your t-shirt order forms. We have placed our large order with the printer and hope to have the t-shirts home on October 9 or October 10, just in time for the Roadrunner Run.
