Kirk Fenton News
11th October 2019
Dear Parents / Carers,
This week we celebrated Harvest Festival as a school and I am very grateful for the amount of produce that we have donated to Selby and District Foodbank. It really will make a difference to people not far from our own community. Thank you for your donations.
Our cross country runners made us proud showing great perseverance in the second round races this week in very damp conditions. Well done to all of them!
At our governors meeting this week we welcomed Mrs Carole Middleton as our new Chair. You may know Carole as she is a retired Head Teacher having previously been at both Monk Fryston and Saxton schools. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Miller, our out-going chair, for all the great work he has done for our school. Although he is stepping down as Chair, he will remain on the governing board.
Finally, You will have seen our latest Church School Inspection Report this week. We are very pleased with the result and again I would like to thank all the parents that contributed on the day of the inspection and to thank our wonderful staff for all their hard work in supporting this aspect of the school.
Have a lovely weekend

Christmas Cards - deadline Friday 18th!
You should all have received your child's Christmas card designs in book bags this week. You only have until Friday 18th October to place your orders - paid in full - by cheque to Friends of Kirk Fenton or in cash in a sealed envelope handed in to the office. Don't forget to check your child's name is spelt correctly and to enclose the order forms - we unfortunately can't correct or add any orders after the deadline and would hate for anyone to miss out.
Friends' committee? AGM Wednesday 23rd October
We are holding our AGM (annual general meeting) at 6.30pm at school just after parents' evening. This is when the committee for this school year will be voted in. Getting involved is rewarding, looks great on your CV and helps provide extra events and facilities to benefit the children. There's also lots of support from the volunteer network and as much guidance as you need from previous committee members. If you'd like to find out more beforehand, please email us or leave a note at the school office for Michelle Seguss.
Christmas Fair - CAN YOU HELP?
We are looking for a sub-committee to help organise the Christmas Fair. We get started in October so that there is enough time to get everyone organised and share out the tasks - many hands make light work! Please email us on friendsofkirkfenton@gmail.com if you can help.

St Mary's
Harvest Festival
This Sunday is our Harvest Festival at St. Mary’s. Everyone is very
welcome to come and join us.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t physically possible to squeeze any more
parents and family into the school hall this week for Harvest. If you
missed out on hearing your child sing, we will be singing Harvest
Samba on Sunday. You may already have heard your child singing it
in the car / round the house / at the supermarket etc. but come and
join us if you can.
This year, we are collecting produce for St. George’s Crypt in Leeds
who work with the homeless, the vulnerable and those suffering
from addiction.
Any tinned / packet goods are more than welcome but this year they
are especially looking for coffee, jars of pasta sauce, tinned
tomatoes, tinned meat, tinned tuna, baked beans, tinned vegetables,
toilet rolls, deodorant and washing powder.
Many people have already given generously to the Selby & District
Foodbank so please don’t feel that you have to give again.
