3rd Grade Weekly Newsletter
**HEADPHONES** please check with your student to ensure they have a set of working headphones at school! Every student will need a pair for the Math STAAR test next Tuesday, April 30.
Our district has sent out letters of Intent through Skyward. This will ask what you are planning to do for the 2024-2025 school year. You will also need to provide a current Proof of Residency (current water, electric, or gas bill). This helps our school district plan for staffing needs for the following school year! PLEASE HLEP US BY COMPLETING IT ASAP!
◾Please remember to pack a snack daily and only bring water to drink in the classroom.
◾We use headphones often, please check with your student to make sure they have a working pair to keep here at school.

Supporting your Child's Math at Home
Supporting your Child's Reading at Home (FICTION)
Your children work hard at school understanding stories. Below are some great questions to ask your child about the books they are reading at home!
Discussion at home:
Students, as you are reading and following your character up and down the story mountain, pay attention to the problems that your character faces.
Often, characters face bigger and bigger hurdles along the way. Ask yourself, “What is my character’s major problem? Is the problem getting worse? What is responsible for making the problem grow?” This information will help you understand the story, and your character, even better.
Secondary characters have their own journeys to travel, their own story mountains to climb. As you read tonight, study the secondary characters in your book and take note of their journeys. How do these compare to the main character’s journey? What problems do the secondary characters face? How do they resolve them? What theories can you grow about these characters?
