Progress Reports...
Teachers have finalized progress reports for your student this Friday. If your student did not bring a progress report home on Friday, please expect that report to be coming home early next week. We would like to remind you that you can access your student's grades through parent portal at anytime. If you have not signed up for parent portal, please contact the main office and we can provide you assistance in getting the account set up. If there is ever a concern with your student, do not hesitate to contact his/her teacher. Our partnership is important for the success of your student.
Counselors Corner... From GIS Counselor Kate Martell
Children need knowledge and skills to protect themselves. As part of the guidance curriculum at GIS, a lesson on personal safety will be presented to all grades starting in the month of October. The lesson will help students recognize the difference between appropriate and inappropriate touch and identify trusted adults in their lives. If you have any questions regarding the content of this lesson, please contact me at 989-731-0856, ext.1509.
Halloween at GIS
Halloween falls on a Monday this year, and each Grade Level celebrates the day a little differently. Teachers will be communicating how their grade level will be celebrating the holiday. Here are just a few reminders regarding Halloween celebration that ALL students will be expected follow:
- Treats to share with the class MUST be store bought. (Just like Birth Day treats) We do not allow homemade treats at this time.
- Costumes can be warn to school. No facial coverings (unless masking for health related reasons)
- No custom accessories that resemble a weapon are allowed on campus.
We thank you for all your support as we continue a great school year!
