December News
Kindergarten - Mrs. Chua
LABEL, LABEL, LABEL!!!
To avoid losing winter clothes or having someone else wear them home (yes, it has happened before), please label all winter clothes. At times, there are at least a dozen pair of black snowpants heaped in the hall and no one seems to remember what their's look like. It also helps to label hats and mittens/gloves. Please make sure that your child can independently dress and undress him/herself for outside play.
Ronald McDonald House Donations
Again this year, Kindergarten is showing we care by collecting cereal and individually packaged snacks for the Ronald McDonald House of Madison. Ronald McDonald House is a home away from home for families with young children at area medical facilities. Please have any donations to school by Dec. 15. Thank you!
Reading/Math Curriculum
We are finishing unit 3 in reading. This unit introduces the most sight words. It is very important to be practicing the sight word cards daily to develop good fluency. Fluency is reading with speed, accuracy and good expression. Without good fluency, students will have difficulty comprehending. By mid December, we will move onto Unit 4 in reading. Our new words are on the yellow cards.
For math, we are beginning unit 3: Teen numbers as Tens and Ones. We are finding partners for numbers ( 6 is 4+2, 3+3, 5+1, etc.). This will lead to doing addition problems. Students need to be secure with number writing and visualization to do accurate addition.
