Illness update:
We have several illnesses making the rounds at BBE including Strep throat and the Flu. Symptoms I am seeing include: fever, congestion, cough, sore throat, headache, body aches, chills, etc. For multiple symptoms, we recommend a doctor visit for the correct diagnosis and treatment to be started as soon as possible.
Your child will not be allowed back at school for at least 24 hours after their fever is gone. (Fever should be gone without the use of a fever-reducing medicine Tylenol, ibuprofen, Advil, Aleve, etc.) A fever is defined as 100°F (37.8°C) or higher. Symptoms of a fever are headache and pain or burning in the eyes.
For strep throat your child will need to be fever free (for 24 hours and without fever reducing medications) and have been on their antibiotics for 24 hours to return.
Prevention: The best way to keep from getting sick is to wash your hands often and avoid sharing eating utensils, like forks or cups. Also teach your children to cover their cough and blow their nose. If your child complains of a headache or pain in the eyes, these are both symptoms of fever. Please do not give your child a fever reducing medication such as Tylenol, ibuprofen, Advil, Aleve, etc. and send them to school as this is how illness spreads.

Encourage Grams for Students
Sometimes our kids have hard days. We would love for you to take a minute to write an encouraging note to your child to be delivered on days that BBE staff notices they need it. A simple way to brighten their day!
Here's what you do:
- Write an encouraging message on a notecard or piece of paper.
- Seal it in an envelope. Write your child's name and teacher name on the envelope.
- Drop it off at the front office or send it with your child to give to Ms. Hildebrand.
If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Hildebrand. childebrand@newcaneyisd.org or call the front office at 281.577.8700
BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS
- Cupcakes or cookies must be store bought.
- Goodie bags are not allowed.
- Our Child Nutrition department offers birthday cupcakes for sale. You can purchase individually wrapped cupcakes for your child's class. They will deliver them at the end of the day in a festive basket. The cost is $0.75 each.
EATING LUNCH WITH YOUR CHILD
- Please remember you may only eat with your child and must sit at the designated parent tables.
- You may not walk with your child back to their classroom. Please say your goodbyes at the cafeteria doors.
- If you're needing to meet with your child's teacher, please schedule a conference. Teachers are on a schedule and need to leave the cafeteria quickly in order to get to their next activity.
