Principal's message - week 34
Well the 6th graders made it safely back from Triple Creek after a fun filled three days! (see pics below) I was able to go see them Wed. afternoon and everyone seemed to having a great time! It was pretty muddy and wet, but no one seemed to care:) We'll get more of the photos up on the rotating picture link on our website.
Our fourth grade students took a trip to the Stauffer-Will today and also had an amazing time. Students made candles, candle holders, and biscuits and learned about the history of the Oregon Trail. Photos will be up next week:)
Are you a parent that drops off your student(s) in the mornings? If so, we need your help! I just became aware that the drop off at the turnaround in the morning is becoming more challenging and parents are having to wait 5-10 min. in line to get kids out the door. Please make sure your child has everything ready to go when you get to the school so they can quickly get out the door and into the school. The back up is causing a large number of students to be tardy to school. Thank you for your assistance!
Micah Elmers and Sophia Evans entered a competition sponsored by the Historical Society. Micah wrote a speech and Sophia made an Adobe Spark presentation on the history of Oregon. Both students were awarded a 20.00 prize for their efforts. Because we couldn't share them at the showcase, I've included them here for your enjoyment! The link for Sophia's presentation is https://spark.adobe.com/video/jsqA5Pb8yiZwF and the link for Micah's speech is http://tinyurl.com/4thGraderMicahElmersSpeech
Thank you to the volunteers who were able to attend our breakfast on Tuesday morning. I know you are all very busy and most were unable to come in, but please know that we appreciate you very much!
This summer there are a variety of classes to support your child in increasing reading skills. I highly encourage you to click on the following link to see what is available for your child! http://tinyurl.com/OSU-Summer2017ReadingPrograms
Yes, we are having a talent show this year! Auditions will be after school on the 23rd and 24th of May, and the show itself will be on Tuesday, June 20. Sign ups will be in the office beginning on Monday. More to come, but I know we will have a great show!
Do you have an old combination lock that you would be willing to donate? I am hoping to collect a class set so I can work with 6th graders on this skill before next fall. If you have one or are willing to buy one and donate it, I would greatly appreciate it!
Looks like the rain may be holding off for a few days, yea! Enjoy your weekend:)
