A New Nine Weeks - A New Beginning
Team Columbia:
The start of a new nine weeks brings about a new beginning. This is the time for us to reflect and celebrate the individual accomplishments as educators as well as identify those deficit areas that will serve as areas of growth opportunities during this new nine week period.
We have started strong with a new focus. Let us not fall into the trap of becoming complacent or letting our guards down allowing those little things to slip by. Remember, it is the little things that grow into bigger problems.
Continue to focus on our school-wide expectations. Remember, school-wide expectations are not optional, they are non-negotiable. If we cannot follow through on basic school-wide expectations as adults, is it fair to hold our students to a different standard and become upset at them for not following our basic classroom expectations? Just something to ponder. We must model what we desire from students. Students place more value on our actions than what we say. So, let's practice what we preach.
I hope everyone has rested and has a renewed focus for the second nine weeks. The dawn of a new nine weeks is always my favorite time because we, students and teachers alike, are afforded a "do over" or an opportunity to improve. Let's focus on continuous improvement.
Have a great start to a new nine weeks and an even better week of teaching and learning!!!
