BRIDGE VALLEY'S NEWSLETTER
August 31, 2017
WELCOME TRAILBLAZERS
BV Families,
On behalf of the entire Bridge Valley staff, we would like to welcome you to the 2017-2018 school year. We couldn’t be more excited for the start of this year. There are so many exciting things happening in CB and particularly at BV that we will need to spread the updates over several newsletters to fully communicate the new initiatives. In the way of a preview, we would like to share that our building goals for 17-18 include…
Building 21st century technology skills through QUEST, upgraded and added technology resources, increased staff development, and our all new Innovation Lab
Year two of our focus on literacy through increased motivation and stamina as well as refined instructional techniques following best practices of a balanced literacy program
Continued focus on social and emotional wellness through the development of classroom community, morning meeting, positive behavior principles, and mindfulness techniques
Improved learning outcomes in mathematics through data analysis, targeted small group instruction, expanded technology resources, and initial piloting and evaluation of a new program
In addition, we are proud to showoff many of our facility upgrades. When you visit, be sure to check out the refinished gym floor and Innovation Lab. Our custodial and facilities staff has worked hard this summer to get our floors waxed and polished, fresh paint on faded walls, and new carpet in several spaces. The building looks better than new!
We hope that you enjoy your Labor Day weekend, and we look forward to seeing those smiling faces in bus windows as your children return to us Tuesday morning.
Respectfully,
Kevin Cochran and Stacey Pedersen

2017-2018 Bridge Valley Parent and Student Handbook
This handbook provides a comprehensive summary of school and district policies and programs for students and their families.
We hope you will find this to be a valuable resource!
Opening Days
During the first few days of school, we understand that some students would feel more comfortable if their parents walked them directly to the classroom. Therefore, you are permitted to escort your child(ren) to the classroom anytime during the first week of school September 5th-8th. As you arrive, please plan on signing in at the table in our front lobby and receiving a visitor's badge.
There will also be additional volunteers and staff members assisting students who ride the bus. If your children are in kindergarten or first grade, encourage them to look for a "balloon helper". These adults will be holding brightly colored balloons and will guide children to their classrooms.
We hope that these procedures will enable your child to have a smooth and successful start to his/her school year!
Back to School Information Guide
Look for a back-to-school general information sheet to come home with your child on Tuesday, September 5th. Additionally, the first Thursday folder will come home on Thursday, September 7th. Each of these sheets contain important and time sensitive material.
