Notes from our Director
Hello DATA community,
This week is the last week of the first nine weeks. Students need to remember to turn in any missing assignments or make-up work for this first grading period as teachers will be finalizing grades very soon. UIL grade check will happen Friday at 4:30pm. Phase 3 continues this week. If you are on campus for in-person instruction, please be sure you wear your mask. We will continue rotating to all class periods, (1 - 4 on MWF and 5 - 7 on TTh). Remember to keep your distance and walk on the right side of the hallways. Monday, October 12, we are again on an adjusted, early release bell schedule. The schedule is linked below.
Thank you to all who came out and participated in the "Pick up and Paint!" event. It was great to see so many of you. Please be sure to wear your new shirt on Thursday, October 15, whether you are learning from home or coming to campus. We want to be sure to capture some photos of our DATA community in the new wear. A special thank you to Mr. Gee for designing the t-shirts and the painting DATA man logo. Also, a big thank you to all of the DATA staff who came out on Saturday to support our students. If you were not able to attend and get your shirt, please contact Ms. Tiller, atille2@neisd.net to arrange a time to pick up your shirt.
Thank you for reviewing the many details included below and continue to stay safe. Let's finish this first nine weeks sTRong. If you have specific questions, please feel free to reach out.
Stay well,
Lori Murach

NASA Opportunity for High School Juniors
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) shared information regarding their Texas High School Aerospace Scholars (HAS) opportunity for high school juniors. During HAS, like-minded students complete an online curriculum in exploration and discovery within various areas of STEM. After completion, the highest achieving students receive invitations to a summer experience. NASA scientists and engineers serve as mentors while students work in teams to plan a mission to the Moon and Mars. Mentors offer guidance and inspire students to make the connection between STEM degrees and career fields. The online and summer experience is free to all participants. Students are eligible for a high school science elective credit in addition to internship opportunities. For more information and to apply, please see attachments and go to www.nasa.gov/has.
