Lawrence Brook Weekly Update

Learn about the exciting news and events happening at LB!

January 2, 2023

Dear Lawrence Brook Elementary School Families:

Happy New Year! It was such a joy welcoming students back to school today. I hope everyone had a wonderful winter break and is ready for an exciting new year at Lawrence Brook School.

The last week of 2022 was certainly full of fun. Thank you to all of the volunteers who made the Winter Class Parties special for our students. Thank you also to the Churchill Junior High School Choir for visiting LB to sing holiday carols and seasonal songs for all to enjoy.

Now, looking ahead, we are excited to launch our One School One Book Program made possible by the Lawrence Brook PTA. On January 6, 2023, all students will participate in a special assembly where we will announce our chosen book. Then, each student will be sent home with his/her own copy! Along with a copy of the book, students will receive several great resources to support positive reading habits at home, including a link to a Lawrence Brook One School One Book website featuring teacher read alouds of each chapter, a recommended reading schedule, and a few other surprises. In school, students will participate in daily trivia and discussion questions and a few activities with their buddy classes.

The program will culminate with a special Family Fun Night hosted by our PTA the evening of Friday, January 27, 2023. Stay tuned for more information--we can't wait to start this valuable and engaging program. Our next PTA meeting will be the evening of January 9. All are welcome to attend either in person or virtually.

Have a wonderful week!

Sincerely,

Elizabeth Dunn

Principal

From there, we will move to the gymnasium where families will showcase their countries and provide a tasting of favorite cultural dishes.
