Representatives from this year's three Student Lighthouse Teams display the "Student Group of the Year Award."
January 12, 2022
On Tuesday evening, Mrs. Dobson, Mrs. Gross, and I had the pleasure of taking seven students to Leader Valley's 10 year celebration. They didn't know it–surprises are always fun–but they were there to accept the award for "Student Group of the Year." With 26 Leader in Me schools in the Cedar Valley, this was quite an honor. In her nomination, Mrs. Dobson noted how our kindergarten through grade eight students work so well together, with the older students mentoring the younger ones and everyone's voice being heard. Our whole student body shares in this award because many students have served on Lighthouse over the years and all students work the same way on teams with important goals.
Catholic Schools Week is coming soon. We kick off our celebration with 5 PM Mass on Saturday, January 28th. Please use the SignUp button below to let us know if your student would like a part in the Mass. This is an important opportunity to let the parish see our students in action. We also need some adult volunteers during the week to help at lunch on Monday and Thursday, to help with games on Friday, and to help CPTO with food for the staff lunches on Monday and Thursday. The full calendar for the week will be available next week. Please note that this year, school Mass will be Tuesday, Jan. 31, at 10:30 AM instead of on Wednesday morning.
Tickets for the Main Event are on sale now. Our committee has such a fun night planned to celebrate St. Patrick and Clover Patch Preschool. Invitations will be out any day now so watch your child's backpack.
I am excited for our Open Houses tomorrow. Thank you to everyone who helped spread the word, whether you visited with friends or simply shared our Facebook posts.
Reminder: No school on Jan. 16 (MLK Day).
Clover Patch Preschoolers enjoy faith-filled days too. Did you know they roll a prayer cube to choose a prayer at the end of the day? They are learning that Jesus loves them at school and all of the time!
Through an out-of-uniform day last spring, we helped provide 15 new mattresses, covers, and frames for alumna Sr. Leann Luecke and the others at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Convent in Bloomington, MN. Last weekend, the Knights of Columbus delivered the beds from Mattress by Appointment Cedar Falls.
