Voyager Family News

Silver Strand Elementary School November 12, 2018

Spotlights and Reminders

  • There is NO SCHOOL on Monday in observance of Veterans Day. We honor and recognize all who serve our country and are proud to be part of a community including many military-connected families. Thank you to our Silver Strand PTO for recognizing National Military Family Month with a special breakfast and family photo opportunity on Friday!
  • This week’s ongoing theme is SERVICE. We have been talking in classrooms and at Friday Flagpole about service to our school, family, community, country, and world. We have been highlighting different kinds of service--leadership, civic engagement, helpfulness, problem solving and more. Please talk with your children about service, about the ways you serve, and what it means in your family.
  • We hope you enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving week with family. We are so grateful to serve our wonderful students and families!

Silver Strand Safety and Security Support from Karen Pierro

AM Drop-Off and Supervision at Silver Strand

Some of our eager Voyager students are arriving too early for school! Please do not drop off children before 7:50 as we do not have adult supervision for students who are NOT in childcare or enrichment programs. Parents whose children need supervision before 7:50am may enroll them in our supervised childcare program (

THERE IS NOTHING MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE SAFETY OF OUR CHILDREN AT SCHOOL DROP-OFF and PICK-UP TIMES. Please stay alert, slow down, take deep breaths, and follow safety protocols to protect our students:

  • If you need to get out of your car, even for just a moment, please pull into a parking space. The front roundabout is for dropping off only.
  • Our student curbside hosts are trained to assist with drop-off. Please pull up as far as you can in the lane, and they can help with students exiting your car, grabbing backpacks, etc.
  • Please do not drop off kids in the front street area of school (behind bus/red curb area) – that is not a secure area!
  • If crossing through the busy parking lot with your child, always use the crosswalks.

  • Spirit Day/Crazy Hair Day is Wednesday, November 28!
