Parent Newsletter- Week of January 11
Happy New Year!
Today is the Last Day to Select Your Learning Environment for the 3rd 9 Weeks!
As I am sure you are aware there was a district update announced prior to Winter Break regarding selecting the learning environment for your child.
We have been reaching out individually to our families over the past few days.
The update was that changes to a student’s learning option (In-Person or Remote) will now ONLY be allowed at the end of each grading cycle.
We are needing to solidify your selection for Grading Period #3 which concludes at the end of March. Please keep in mind if you select the In-Person option, your child will be expected to attend IN-Person Daily.
The only exceptions to this is if your child is out sick with a doctor’s note or your child is out due to COVID as part of our district reporting process. Students who are absent for IN-Person learning will be marked absent and will not be allowed to participate in synchronous remote learning.
They will only be able to reconcile their attendance by completing the assignments for the day asynchronously. For instance, if your child is absent for In-Person learning, they will be marked absent for the day. If they complete ALL of their assigned tasks for the day asynchronously, their attendance will rectified.
Families selecting the Virtual Learning option will remain virtual the ENTIRE Grading Period. Students will not be allowed to switch their options.
If a virtual student reports to campus, the family will be contacted to retrieve the student.
Please confirm your choice for the 3rd grading period that begins January 11th no later than Friday, January 8th.
If you have not already spoken to your child's teacher regarding your selection please give us a call to submit your selection.
Thank you and if you have any questions please feel free to contact the front office.

Free Internet Hotspots Now Available for Eligible Students
Spring ISD is excited to share that the district is providing free internet hotspots for eligible students. Families who take advantage of this free service will get unlimited data, so you won’t need to use your own. You can also connect up to eight devices on one hotspot. Most importantly, students will be able to complete their school work and homework and connect with their teachers with more reliable internet.
Spring ISD is also partnering with Comcast Internet Essentials to provide free internet services for eligible families. For more information and to sign up, please call 281-891-6850.
It is National School Board Appreciation Month!
How Spring ISD is Preparing for the COVID-19 Vaccines
Parents, as we head into the spring semester, we are all looking forward to the availability of vaccines against COVID-19. Our school district is following the guidance of Harris County Department of Health, which has recently opened up the distribution of vaccines to educators over 65 or those with a pre-existing health condition.
Of course, we’re encouraging any eligible staff members to receive the vaccine when it’s available to them. We’ve been heartened that some of our employees have already been able to get the first dose. In the weeks to come, we expect more staff members will be receiving appointments for the vaccine and may need to take time off during the school day to do this. We want to minimize any impacts on our students but we wanted to let you know that in some cases, we may need to move classes (whether remote or in-person) to asynchronous learning if there are staffing/coverage issues.
We promise to keep you updated and give you the most notice possible should we need to move your student to asynchronous learning for a day, half a day, or a few hours. Thank you for your ongoing support as we all continue to work together to stop the spread!
District Events in January
Want to see your student’s grades and report cards? Log into HAC!
As we prepare to release progress reports and report cards this fall, we wanted to remind you how to check your child’s grades on the Home Access Center.
The key is to log into the myspringisd portal and into HAC. There you will find a Grades tab. When you click on that, you will see where to locate your child’s progress report (IPR), report cards and more.
Remember, the username and password you use to log into the portal is the same username and password for logging into HAC. Also, parents should log in using their credentials, not their student’s.
Staying connected with your child’s academic progress is a great way to ensure your student’s success in school. By monitoring and encouraging, you can help support your child’s performance.
See the attached handouts in English and Spanish for step-by-step directions.
