❄️🥶 Cold Weather Precautions |

Big picture

Bus Stop Precautions:

  • For the next couple days, Air temperatures and wind chill temperatures in the morning could be below freezing when buses begin picking up the middle school students on the first routes. Later morning routes are likely to be equally as frigid.

  • Please make sure your children are dressed as warm and appropriately as possible.

  • If you can, you may want to wait at the bus stop with your child in your car.

  • If you are concerned about your child being at a bus stop in this weather, tomorrow might be a good day to drive your child to school if you can.

  • Afternoon bus routes should be fine as the temperatures are predicted to be in the mid 20”s.

  • If at any time you feel conditions are either too unstable or unsafe, you may choose to keep your child at home and notify the school office of your decision.

**Also, PLEASE REMEMBER TO SEND your child in WINTER COATS, HATS and GLOVES. We only have outdoor recess if the temperature/wind chill is 32 or above but coming Into school and leaving school will be VERY COLD for our students.

** NEIGHBORHOOD PICK-UP:

We will be monitoring afternoon temperatures to decide if we will be having neighborhood pick-up. Please check our Heritage Facebook Pages and your email for cancellations!

Big picture
Before making a decision to cancel school, EPS administrators monitor and review road , parking lot conditions, temperatures and precipitation amounts. When schools must be closed due to inclement weather, the following considerations are important:

  • EPS endeavors to announce its decision to close between 5-5:15 a.m. and will post that information to the district's social media platforms, school websites, via EPS text messaging and will share it with local media. When possible, EPS will decide on closure the evening before classes and activites are canceled.
  • When weather conditions develop during the school day, schools will NOT be dismissed early because thousands of parents work and students could potentially be arriving home to a locked house.
  • If the weather starts to deteriorate during the school day, parents may pick up their student(s) early. Missed school will count as an absence.
