Canva and Tackk
Another great resource for design is Tackk. You can log in with your Google or Edmodo account. There are many possibilities for using Tackk such as presentations, newsletters, fliers and much, much more. For more ideas, check out 20 Ways to Use Tackk in the Classroom.
iSearch and Explora
If you used Ebscohost's Student Research Center with students last year, you will want to know that it has changed to Explora (for PreK-5, Grades 6-8, and Grades 9-12, and Educators). It has a more visual interface with more topic ideas that could help to kick-start a student research topic idea. When you are in Explora, you can limit your results to different Lexile levels depending on the grade you teach. I also like to look for the .pdf option after I click view/download article in the upper left corner or below the abstract--then the article has all of the beautiful images just like it did in the magazine.
New Map Tools
Another new website that utilizes Google Maps is Newspaper Map. Want to give your students a more global perspective? Try this resource by zooming around the world to read the news from different countries. If you speak a different language, you have the option to translate the news. Share this resource to help our students become more globally literate.
