Are You Returning to Edison in Fall 2021?
We are beginning to plan for the 2021-2022 school year at this time. It would be extremely helpful for us to know whether or not your child will be returning to Fraser in September. We are asking each family to help us with this process by completing the form below. Please take a moment to fill it out. Please complete ONE FORM per child.
We greatly appreciate your assistance planning for next school year!
Continued Covid-19 Communication
We hope our Edison families had a good Spring Break. Please remember:
* All families must complete the health screener each morning (also linked above).
* If anybody in your household has tested positive for Covid-19 or if your child has been exposed to Covid-19, please keep your child home and contact our school office for a tentative return to school date.
* If your child has any symptoms of illness, as mild as they may be, plan to keep them home until they are symptom free for 24+ hours or they have a doctor's note clearing them to return. If your child exhibits any symptoms here at school, please understand that we will need to send them home. We appreciate your understanding as we work to ensure the safety of all students and staff.
*If you've traveled internationally over break, please see the CDC guidelines below:
It is important to note the CDC states for International Travel: Get tested 3-5 days after travel AND stay home and self-quarantine for 7 days after travel.
State Testing Updates for F2F Students
Each spring, the State of Michigan and the US Department of Education (USDE) require us to assess students in certain subject areas through the M-STEP, PSAT and SAT. The assessments provide the district with a snapshot of student achievement at the state, district, and building levels. Individual student results will also be shared with parents.
The assessment dates for Face-to-Face students are as follows:
5th Grade
Tuesday, April 20: Science MStep
Thursday, April 22: Social Studies MStep
6th Grade
Tuesday, April 27: Math MStep
Thursday, April 29: ELA MStep
4th Grade
Tuesday, May 4: Math MStep
Thursday, May 6: ELA MStep
3rd Grade
Tuesday, May 11: Math MStep
Thursday, May 13 ELA MStep
Please ensure that your child is well rested on their testing day. They should come to school with a fully charged iPad and headphones/ear buds, if they have them.
Please note- We have makeup days built into our testing schedule, so if your child is exhibiting any symptoms of illness on their testing day- be sure to keep them home.
School Dress Code Reminders
While it's still a bit inconsistent, the weather does seem to be getting warmer and more spring-like. This is a good time to remind our families about how to dress for school success. While we want to respect students' individual styles, we also need to make sure that we are maintaining a school environment that allows our focus to remain on learning.
Please remind your Eagles to keep the following in mind as they dress for school:
- Undergarments should not be visible
- Shorts/skirts need to be about index fingertip length or longer.
- Stomachs must be covered.
- Shirts should not be revealing. Straps should be about 3-fingers wide.
- Flip flops are unsafe on the playground. Sandals may be worn but should have heel straps.
For more information about specific guidelines for our FPS Dress Code, please see our Fraser Public Schools Code of Conduct.
We Need Noon Aides
Noon-Aides- $9.65/hour: 1.75 hours daily- flexible scheduling; Noon-aides monitor students at lunch recess time, while teachers eat lunch. It's a great way to stay involved in our school while earning some extra money. Apply here and email Mrs. Wiegand, if interested.
We look forward to hearing from you!
Arrival and Dismissal
*Students should not be dropped off for school prior to 8:15AM, as we are not staffed to supervise students before this time.
*Please give buses the "Right of Way" and do not block the bus lane while dropping off your child.
*During curbside drop off, please pull all the way up to the curb, so your child doesn't have to cross into traffic flow lanes.
*No students or adults are allowed to walk between buses during arrival and dismissal. This is a hugely important safety rule that we need to enforce for the sake of all kids.
*Please be patient with one another, despite the congestion in the parking lot. Our kids are watching.
School Property During School Hours
As the weather gets nicer and more conducive to socializing (especially at dismissal time), I wanted to provide the following reminders:
Also, when picking up your students at dismissal time, please plan to stay in your vehicles until all of our PM recesses have ended (approximately 3:15PM). We are unable to allow parents to walk up to the dismissal doors during PM recess, as that jeopardizes the safety/security of our play area.
Breakfast/Lunch Information
The April lunch menu can be accessed here.
Breakfast & lunch are FREE for all students for the remainder of the 2020-21 school year.
Virtual learners can pickup free meals curbside at Fraser High School from 7am – 12pm, M-F.
