Weekly Update
September 1, 2023
Over the Weekend
*NO SCHOOL MONDAY 9/4/23
Classroom Info
*We will be using Chromebooks daily. I have a class set of headphones (but they are old and some don't work). If you would like to bring in your own headphones for your student, please feel free!
**Homework goes home on Monday in their green folder and is due Friday. I want the students to keep the folder in their backpack every day in case there is a flyer that needs to go home. I will collect all folders on Friday with their homework! PLEASE MAKE SURE TO SIGN THIS FRIDAY AND AGENDAS DAILY (this helps make sure students are showing you their homework)
Week at a Glance
*Phonics: -igh/-ie/-y practice.
*ELA: We have been learning about problem and solutions. We have read about schools in Brazil and Haiti, and some of the problems they faced there (no internet, and earthquakes). We talked about how these problems were solved and practiced writing our first paragraph about it. Students also did their readers theater. Each student had a roll (or two) and read a section of "Off to Class" to their peers. We practiced on Thursday and presented on Friday!
*Math: The first few days this week we reviewed our first two topics (adding and subtracting within 20, number line, even and odd numbers, arrays, word problems, etc.). They took their first Math Common Assessment on Wednesday. We began our third topic in math as well! The students did great and were quite the mathematicians.
*In between all of this, we get daily brain breaks, related arts, lunch, and recess!
