OVES Celebrates Halloween
PTO Fun Run Returns to OVES
Students took part in the 2017 Oley Valley Elementary School Fun Run on October 26. The Fun Run raises money for the PTO to help support student field trips, teacher projects, and other programs/activities that support the students at OVES. Students raised money by gathering donations for each lap they ran. The goal was to complete 35 laps. The students really enjoyed the Fun Run. Thank you to the PTO and parent volunteers who helped out on the day of the Fun Run.
Fire Prevention Tips Shared at OVES
Thank you to the Oley Valley Fire Department for visiting the elementary school during Fire Safety Week. Students in grades K-3 had the opportunity to examine the fire trucks, look over the gear and tools used by firefighters, and watch the firemen put on the needed gear to fight a fire.

OVMS Students Make Pen Pal Connections.
During the month of October and into early November all 7th grade World Geography students participated in a pen pal exchange through Penpalschools.com. Each student was matched with four pals, three were from throughout the US and one was from a foreign country. Each week students read an article on different topic, watched a video and then responded to their pals about the topic. These topics included: daily life, food, history, art & literature, and a final reflection.
Article submitted by 7th grade social studies teacher Mrs. Colleen Breen.
