Please be sure to read the newest District Newsletter that comes out now every Friday. You can access all the issues here.
DISTRICT NEWSLETTER FROM FRIDAY
In case you missed it, please review the District Newsletter from Friday (here) as there were many details shared about how we are continuing to best address the spread of COVID-19 in our schools while remaining in-person for learning.
ON-SITE TESTING
As we shared in the District Newsletter on Friday (here), we have started offering an On-site COVID-19 Testing center at the ECC District Office on weekdays from 7am to 3pm for students, staff, and family/household members of positive student or staff cases or anyone deemed a close contact.
If you are contacted by our main office at the school that your child is symptomatic and needs to be picked up or released from school, you now have the opportunity between 7am to 3pm to take your child to the ECC District Office for COVID-19 testing. HIGH SCHOOL ONLY - We will continue to have On-Site Testing at Franklin High School during weekdays from 7am to 3pm for high school students through our health office located there.
Please review this document for other details and questions you may have about how this will work. Testing is another mitigation strategy to help us reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our schools.
WEBSITE BACK UP AND RUNNING
As of late Sunday, the district website, including all school websites, is back up and running to 100% functionality. We apologize for the inconvenience with it being up and down last week. Our website vendor has restored all pages including the calendar area, our newsfeeds, and our staff directory. Thank you for your patience during this past week as they worked to get everything restored.
MAP ASSESSMENT NOTIFICATION FOR 1ST - 5TH GRADE PARENTS
Your son/daughter will be participating in MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) assessments in math and reading starting the week of January 10th through January 21st. This assessment was administered earlier this year and will be administered again in May of this school year so achievement and growth can be monitored over time.
It is important that your child come to school rested and ready to fully participate in the assessment. Please encourage your child to:
Get enough sleep.
Eat a good breakfast.
Keep a positive attitude.
Listen carefully and follow directions.
Do his/her best
Though the MAP assessments are important, it is only one measure of your child’s progress in school. Please continue to communicate with your child’s teachers and other school staff to get a full picture of your child’s school success. Additional general information about MAP is available at www.nwea.org.
Below is Country Dale's MAP testing schedule.

OUTDOOR RECESS
Please review these policies and procedures with your children.
Students go outdoors during the lunch hour, and they may also wait for some time at their bus stops. Please be sure that your child is dressed for the weather. The decision to have an outdoor or indoor recess is based on both the wind speed and temperature at 11:30 am.
If it is an outside recess day, all students must go outdoors. Unfortunately, students who have colds and coughs are not allowed to stay indoors. We would willingly make an exception if we received a note from your child’s physician stating he/she must not go outdoors. Under these conditions, your child would sit in the office during recess.
CLOTHING:
All students are expected to go outside for recess whenever the wind chill is above 0 degrees. Please be sure your child is dressed for the weather. This includes a warm coat, mittens or gloves, hat, scarves, snow pants & boots when there is snow. To play in snow, boots, and snow pants are required. Students who come to school without boots and snow pants will not be allowed off of the blacktop on snow days.
SNOW, ICE, MUD, WATER AREAS:
Students are expected to avoid ice, water, and mud at recess. NO SLIDING or playing on icy areas. Injuries occur when students play on the ice. Students are expected to avoid muddy areas and areas of water. Students are responsible for staying away from these areas. Students may play in the snow if properly attired (boots and snow pants). We have a large playground at Country Dale, and it is easy to find appropriate areas to play. ABSOLUTELY NO THROWING OR KICKING OF ANY SNOW!
