Nova Blanche Families,
As we our now in our second half of the school year, I want to say thank you to all our Nova Blanche Forman educators, students, and families for being so flexible this school year. January 13th brought in a new semester and we, also, welcomed more of our students back into the building. While sticking to the CDC guidelines, we have been able to maintain a safe, healthy environment.
I want to remind you, if your child is exhibiting what could be COVID-19 symptoms, please keep them home for learning. They could still be present in school and learn via e-Learning while they wait for test results or symptoms to subside.
Academically, we are actively reviewing iReady Diagnostic 2 data and adjusting our instruction. We are very pleased to see our students growing academically despite the challenges caused by the pandemic. Additionally, February is Black History Month. Our classrooms will be incorporating many lessons to celebrate Black History.
Lastly, we the have identified funds and provided a Winter Camp for some 5th grade students. We are also finalizing plans for a Before/After School Camp and, hopefully, a Saturday Virtual Camp. The goal is to utilize time and resources to close any gaps created by the pandemic. More information will be shared soon but remember that these camps will not be for everyone. We will very carefully select students based on academic data and criteria that supports additional assistance. The families of the students selected for these opportunities will be contacted directly when the time comes.
Thank you for your time. I wish everyone a great month! Stay safe!
Sincerely,
Mr. Schwartz, Principal

The month of February is African American/Black History Month. There will be morning announcements to highlight historical black figures and facts. Students in the building can check out our hallway displays, and all students can participate in our virtual "Living Museum" program. They can become the person they are presenting and tell us all about them. Students were sent a link on their Canvas dashboard to watch a video and sign up for the program. They must sign up to participate and avoid duplicates.
We are highlighting "Hidden Figures", the great contributors that we rarely hear about. Students can sign up here: Black History Month Living Museum Sign-Up. Students will then receive an inbox on Canvas with the FLIPGRID link to submit their video. ALL videos are to be submitted before 2/12/21. The final video will be presented on Canvas announcements in February.

Arrival
School begins promptly at 9:30 AM. Students being transported to school by car must not arrive before 9:00 AM. Upon arriving late, after 9:30 AM, students must come to the front office to be admitted to class. Except in cases of a late bus, students will be marked tardy at 9:30 AM. As per the School Board of Broward County Discipline Matrix, habitual tardies can result in consequences such as time out, detention, social worker interventions and/or rescission of Nova placement.
Dismissal
Children are dismissed at 3:30 PM. If a student is to be picked up early, a note must be given to the classroom teacher in the morning. No child is permitted to leave the school at any time prior to the regular dismissal time unless he/she is signed out in the front office. Students will not be called to the office for early dismissal after 3:00 PM. Only persons listed on the registration form will be permitted to sign out a child.
Per School Board Policy, there will be no dismissal after 3:00 PM. Dismissal begins at 3:30 PM. If your child is a car rider, please be on time, in an emergency call the office.
Children who are car riders at dismissal will be seated according to grade level. Parents who do not wish to park, must wait in the car line. Parents need to wait outside, not in the front office. Students will not be released to meet parents across the parking lot. Names of children and their grade level should be placed in the windshield of the passenger side of the car. It is of extreme importance that children be picked up on time or enrolled in the After Care program at Nova Blanche Forman. Parents who habitually pick their child(ren) up late will be referred to the school social worker.
To ensure the success of your children, it is important that they be in school on time and that they remain in school through the end of the day.
