PTO needs you

Next Thursday, March 15th, is our PTO meeting. Our Parent Teacher Organization supports numerous events and projects around the school. Family fun nights, book fairs, holiday shop and teacher appreciation week to name a few.

As we start looking to next school year, we will have parents moving to the middle school. I encourage you to come out next Thursday at 6:00 PM and join us! The meetings take place in the Magee library and last less than an hour.

A special invite to our kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade families to come out and join us as we start planning for next school year. Nervous or not sure? Bring a friend!

Chorus tour

On Tuesday March 13th our 3rd and 4th grade chorus students will be traveling to Rollaire Skate Center along with a performance at River's Bend in Manitowoc. Please make sure your chorus student has their shirt along with black pants. They will be back to Magee before 4:00.

Wisconsin Forward Exam

All Magee students in grades 3 and 4 will take the state Forward assessment starting the week of April 9th.

The exam is designed to gauge how well students are doing in relation to Wisconsin Academic Standards. These standards outline what students should know and be able to do in order to be college and career ready. The Forward Exam is administered online each Spring in grades 3-8.

A parent flier is in today's folder with information for families. Click here for an electronic copy of the letter.

Open Enrollment

Families wishing to attend a school outside their home district can apply for Open Enrollment in Wisconsin. The window is opened from February 5th to April 30th, 2018. Click here for more information. Have a question about open enrollment, call 793-4560 and ask for Louann.

March Character Trait: Compassion

People display compassion in many ways. Children and youth can better understand this trait when they have an understanding of what compassionate actions look like and sound like. They will then be more likely to incorporate the behaviors below into their daily lives.

What Compassionate People Say:

You look upset.

I understand how you feel.

I’m sad that you got hurt.

That happened to me too, once. It makes me feel sad for you.

I’m so sorry that happened. Let me help.

I bet it hurts a lot.

What can I do to help?

What Compassionate People Do:

Notice when people are hurting, and show that they feel for them

Feel sad when they see someone crying or hurt

Console others in pain

Talk soothingly to those in pain

Listen patiently to someone’s problems, without interrupting

Mirror facial expressions of the distressed person

Volunteer time and resources to charity

Encourage others to practice compassion
