Rockin' in 5th Grade

Current Topics of Study:
Math: As mathematicians, students have been practicing their division of whole number skills. Students will assess on division of whole numbers on Tuesday. We will then move into conversions (time, length, weight).
Reading: As readers, we will be working to summarize nonfiction texts and identify the central idea.
Writing: As writers, students are moving into persuasive writing. Student's first writing will be on uniforms.
Scientists: As scientists, students will be learning about energy in plants and animals.
Social Scientists: As social scientists, students have been learning about the Roaring Twenties. Students will have an assessment on Thursday, Jan. 19th.

Students assignments are posted in Canvas.
Science assignment: Read the Wonderopolis article and answer the discussion post posted in the science canvas course
Math: Complete the Q1/Q2 review in the math canvas course (this can be on a separate sheet of paper)
Read: Read for 20 minutes
If students are unable to complete their assignments tomorrow then they will be given until next Wednesday (1/17) to get their assignments completed and turned in to not be counted absent.
