Delta Team met this week and agenda items included: (1) summer cleaning, (2) delta team next year volunteers, (3) feedback on writing IC, (4) principal groupings, (5) Assistant to the Principal feedback, (6) overall reflections – what’s working and not working.
Here is a short read from Eric Sheninger about the importance of sound pedagogy before technology implementation and would be a good read for teachers or leadership teams.
Here is another short read concerning 12 competencies leaders should possess for success during times of change. I liked the author’s growth mind-set spin-off in which he stressed the importance of adaptive and abundance mindsets.

Defining “Maker Space”
Someone recently asked for a working definition of Maker Space. In an Education Week article, Benjamin Herold defines Maker Education: “The term generally refers to using a wide variety of hands-on activities (such as building, computer programming, and even sewing) to support academic learning and the development of a mindset that values playfulness and experimentation, growth and iteration, and collaboration and community. Typically, ‘making’ involves attempting to solve a particular problem, creating a physical or digital artifact, and sharing that product with a larger audience. Often, such work is guided by the notion that process is more important than results.”

from J-
Although you have had your official recognition, I will continue to give praise and honor to you in your role. In the early decades of public education, the full title of Principal was "principal teacher", which accounts for the present day title having an adjectival form, essentially being a foreshortened version of the original full title. Inclusive of the many hats you wear - administrator, disciplinarian, site PD director, etc - you are your site's lead educator, responsible for value-added modeling to the art and craft of teaching. As a teacher of teacher, accept by appreciation for you. The greatest principals will always have a teacher's heart. Please continue to hold your teacher's heart closely and share it with others.
This week I will complete my general rounding for the year, including York, Williams & Watkins. Other visits this week and through the end of the year will be my effort to complete as many evaluations with you for this school year.
Have a great first week of May!
