Monthly Life Skills
The Life Skills are taught and used throughout each day, and students will be given recognition and praise for exemplifying these skills. One specific Life Skill will be focused on each month for more in-depth discussion and use. At the end of the month, 2-6 students (depending on class size) will be selected by their teacher for exemplary use of those skills and will be honored with a special certificate. The names of students who are being honored will be included in the weekly newsletter.
December: Effort
- Effort is to try your hardest, to strive, or to practice.
- Effort looks like assignments that are worked on with your personal best.
- Effort sounds like "Nick, you did a great job on your writing assignment! You included important details, incorporated our new vocabulary words, and carefully revised and edited."
- Effort feels like confidence or pride.
Please encourage discussion of our life skills at home too.
Talk to your child about effort at home. Identify people who show effort. Discuss how these people are making an effort and what, if any, are the results of their effort. Share times when you had to use extra effort. What were your results?
Thank you for your support with this!
