ENERGY!
Kinetic and Potential
What is energy?
Energy is the strength and vitality required for sustained physical or mental activity.
Kinetic Energy
Any object in motion has kinetic energy. You can determine the amount of kinetic energy based on the mass and the speed of the object. There are 4 types of kinetic energy: radiant energy, thermal (heat) energy, motion energy and sound energy.
An Airplane
An airplane has a large amount of Kinetic Energy because of its mass and fast speed while in flight.

Flowing River
A flowing river has kinetic energy because of its mass and speed.
A baseball
When a baseball is thrown or hit has a large amount of kinetic energy because of its high speed even though it has a small mass.
Potential Energy
Potential energy is stored energy of position that is controlled by an object. There are 4 types of potential energy: chemical energy, elastic energy, gravitational energy and nuclear energy which is fusion and fision.
Rock on the edge of a Cliff
A rock on the edge of a cliff has potential energy because the energy could potentially turn into kinetic energy at any moment when the rock falls off the cliff.

Tree Branches
Tree branches have potential energy because they can fall to the ground.
FOOD!
Food we eat has potential energy because as it is digested the food provides our body with energy.
