Nightly Homework Practice

**Don't forget to have your child read their baggie book at least 3 times with/to you. Don't forget to sign the reading log each night. No books will be sent home on Fridays.

**Students need to practice recognizing/reading their Weekly Words words each night. We will have recognition tests on Fridays on these words. Sight word recognition is very important-90% of texts students read are sight words (words that cannot be sounded out).

**We are excited to begin a new spelling routine. Your child will have 5 "word family/CVC words" to learn how to spell each week. There will be a simple exercise to complete each night with the words. We will send home the work for the entire week on Mondays. Your child has all week to complete them. It shouldn't take longer than 5-10 minutes to complete. The completed assignments can remain in your child's homework folder until Friday. We will check for completed assignments on Friday and give prizes for completion. Your child will also have a spelling test on those 5 words on Friday.
