What Did We Learn This Week?
We took our last vocabulary test this week! Yay! In grammar we are learning about adverbs and when to add commas in our writing. We are forging ahead with our cursive and continue to take our CARS tests each week for comprehension. Finally, we are working so hard on finishing our autobiographies and adding the final touches! We can't wait to show you next Wednesday at Young Author's Night!!
This week we began a new unit with multiplication! The kids were very excited! First we made a pamphlet showing that multiplication is repeated addition, skip counting, and we can draw an array to find the answer to a problem. We learned tricks for the 0's and 1's and made flashcards for the 2's and 10's facts. The students will be making flashcards of the facts we learn in class each day and keeping them in a baggie which will stay in their homework folder. Please encourage your child to practice those flashcards for at least 5 minutes each night.
We had fun classifying animals into the 5 vertebrate groups. Also, we watched some fun videos and reviewed for our test. The tutorial for my class will be on Monday, May 16 and the Test will be Tuesday, May 17. Then we will move into learning about invertebrates!
