First Days of School

2-Day Preschool Program

Week 1

We feel so privileged to teach your children and get to know them over the upcoming year. We have already begun to appreciate their strengths and help them grow in their areas of weakness. In our first week of class we became more familiar with the classroom and the routine of the day. We started learning our friends' names and playing with our new friends in centers and on the playground.

For art time, we talked about how every person in our class is important and everyone has their own strengths. We used the leftover crayons from last year to melt. Everyone chose their favorite color(s), pealed the wrapper off the crayon, and broke the crayon in pieces to spread their color throughout different muffin tins. We also decorated our own personal place mat for snack time!

Week 2

This week, everyone got a class job. We have an announcer, a snack helper, song selectors, a table cleaner, a line leader, a fixer (for torn books), an attention getter, and a flag holder. The kids are loving their new jobs and look forward to having a new job each week.

This week we created a page for "Our School Family" book. We all decorated a paper version of us! We chose what color our hair was, what color our eyes are and what color(s) our outfit was. We really enjoyed this, but some of us decided to make a few.....changes to our appearance. : )

We also read Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes by Eric Litwin. This is a great book! If you have never read this book with your child, I highly recommend that you give it a try. After reading this book, everyone made his/her own white shoe and colored it according to what they "stepped in". We had some really creative answers! They had so much fun with this! Ask them about what color(s) they colored their shoe!

Everyone is welcome! This is a REALLY cool event, if you have never been. It is an opportunity for you child to do all the messy activities that you would rather not do in your home. Just make sure you bring a messy set of clothes for your child, a bag (for your child's projects), and a towel to wrap up your child!
