Firehouse Visits
Kindergarten through second grade students visited the Washington Fire Department this week! Teachers did a great job preparing students for these visits, and the classes said they had fun! We are so happy they had the opportunity to visit WFD and learn about fire safety!
Welcome back Dr. Dunnan!
Dr. Dunnan returned Wednesday ready to take on third grade lunch! Lisa Fossatt made Dr. Dunnan this apron to make sure he was well equipped to snip GoGurts, open snack packs without getting messy, and serve condiments right from his apron!
Our students and staff are so excited to have Dr. Dunnan back!
Teacher Highlight
A new student will be joining kindergarten tomorrow, and she and her parents came to visit last week. Mrs. Hartzler already had all of the new student’s supplies ready, a spot for her to sit, and she had already gotten her kids excited for the addition of Emma! It’s hard to see from the picture, but this is Mrs. Hartzler’s class waving “hi” to their new friend! Thank you so much, Mrs. Hartzler, for making Emma and her family feel welcome at Central!
Cafeteria Team Highlight
Our students are so lucky to have Brooke and Lisa as part of our CPS team! Both of these lovely ladies arrive early each morning to prepare lunch for our students, they serve lunch to hundreds of students, they help with supervision, and then they help clean up! The best part, though? THEY LOVE THEIR JOBS!
I can’t thank these ladies, and the rest of the cafeteria team, for their hard work and dedication to serving wonderful lunches to our students!
Leader in Me Celebration
Thank you so much to all who helped plan Friday’s Leader in Me assembly! There were lots of laughs from students and adults, and the focus on habits was a great reminder for our students on ways to be a leader!
Good News Calls
Thanks to your nominations, I was able to make six Good News Calls this week! The students and their families were so excited to hear great news from school, and it felt great to see smiles from those students!
If you need a boost, I encourage you to try a #GoodNewsCalloftheDay! It is so rewarding to highlight the great things we see from our students, and I have enjoyed the interactions with our Central families!
No time for a Good News Call? Text me, and I’ll come watch your class for a few minutes so you can make one! (309)657-6844
Classroom Visits
Many teachers have expressed interest in visiting other CPS classrooms. I love the idea of exposure to new instructional practices and various teaching approaches right in our own building! If you have a teacher in mind, please let them know, and I will help cover classes. I can read to students, teach a lesson, or facilitate stations while you watch another teacher.
