Meet the Teacher
Though the class is online, I still enjoy getting to know all of you. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have questions or just want to chat. Let me know your interests and how you spend your days. Remember, the only difference in our student-teacher relationship is it exists in a different environment.

Understanding Edgenuity Grades
How To Succeed In a Virtual Course
First and foremost, remember that you have a “real-life” teacher who is eager to help you succeed. Reach out if you have a question about the material, are having tech issues, or if you are simply struggling to find time to work. In addition to teaching you the material and evaluating your work, I am here to coach and guide you to solutions to any problem that may arise during your course.
Goals
Goals are important in keeping you focused. What are your long term goals? What do you want to accomplish this semester? Use this end-goal to set weekly and daily goals. Be realistic when setting your goals. How much can you reasonably accomplish in this time period?
Strategies
Be sure that you know how to log-in, where to locate your assignments, how to access your grades, etc. Ask your teacher for advice on how to prepare for assessments and know what learning and study strategies work best for you.
Time Management
Decide when, how often, and for how long you will work on your coursework. Take into consideration your other obligations and be sure to allow some time for relaxation. Ideally, you will set aside a specific time each day to dedicate to each course. Develop a habit so that you know “this is work time.”
Be Self-Aware
Do you fully understand or do you have a few questions? Do you know what you are supposed to do? Could you use more practice before moving on? Only you can know what is going on in your head.
Ask for Help
If you aren’t sure, ask! It’s better to clear things up early than to wait and realize later that you had it wrong all along. Reach out to your teacher through Genius, email, call, or text. While the bulk of your instruction comes from the online platform, your FVS teacher is an expert on the content and is available to explain and clarify any material with which you may struggle.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How do I get started?
1. Go to fulton.geniussis.com
2. Log in
3. Click on Go to Courses next to your class name (i.e., 10th Grade Literature)
4. Click on your course name on the Dashboard
Can I just go to Edgenuity and log in? In order to keep the same log in information for the county, you must access your course through fulton.geniussis.com. Edgenuity will not recognize your username and password if you go directly to the site.
How much time should this take? You should be working approximately 1 - 1 1/2 hours per course per school day. However, the focus should be on completing tasks. If you take more or less time to finish the coursework for the day, you are still okay.
Should I work on the weekends? YES, YES, YES! When possible, this is a great time to get ahead and/or to get caught up on your coursework.
Do I take an EOG or EOC?
All students taking a 6th, 7th, or 8th grade course will take the EOG for their grade level, not the course level. For example, if you are a 5th grader taking a 6th grade class, you will take the EOG for 5th grade. For high school ELA courses, 9B and 11B are the only EOC courses. Be sure to talk to other teachers about a possible EOC if you are taking courses other than English/Language Arts. If you are 100% online, please know all students taking an EOC MUST take it in person.
